Recommended DAWs

It is recommended that you use the 3DX with a DAW that supports multi-channel tracks.

If your DAW does not support multichannel tracks, you will be limited to the creation of onlymono and stereo tracks, and you will only be able to select inputs and outputs of no more than 2channels for the 3DX.

In order to use Ambisonics, your DAW must be able to create tracks with at least the following number of channels:

  • 1st Order Ambisonics: 4 channels
  • 2nd Order Ambisonics: 9 channels
  • 3rd Order Ambisonics: 16 channels

Since support for surround formats, including height channels, is ideal for stereophonic production, we recommend the following DAWs: ProTools | Ultimate, Nuendo, and Reaper.
